ABOUT US
our history
Raha Cycling was established in 2010, when a group of about six riders got together and started riding from the Raha International School in Khalifa City every Friday morning (that's us in the photo above in our first club kit at Abu Dhabi's F1 track, Yas Marina Circuit). Since then, the group has grown in numbers and we now regularly have more than 60 riders taking part in our Friday and Saturday rides. Raha Cycling is an inclusive road cycling club - our peloton is home to riders from more than 25 countries, including the UAE, Colombia, England, Australia and Germany.
our ethos
We encourage and support all riders young and old to gain experience and progress in a structured, controlled and predictable riding environment.
Our regular peloton heads out twice a week through the desert, which can be an extremely harsh terrain to ride in, especially during summer months. As a result, we have a strict no-drop policy, plus we employ a support car to follow us through the desert on every single ride. Inside the car you'll find spare wheels, inners and water and ice during summer. Rider safety is key, so headphones and/or tri-bars are not permitted on our rides, and cyclists are requested to not take selfies with their phones when pulling a turn at the front or riding in the middle of the bunch.
We are a social riding club, NOT a race team.
our objectives
To encourage safe riding by organising group rides.
To enhance physical fitness and well-being of club riders.
To promote social relationships among like-minded people.
